Matt Bostater

Matt developed an early passion for music, ignited by the discovery of his parents record albums when he was 10 years old. That enthusiasm only intensified when he began mixing live speaking events and worship services throughout his teens. Seeking to further develop his skills he enrolled in the Commercial Music Technology program at Malone University (Canton, OH). The coursework introduced him to acoustics, music theory, multi-track recording, and MIDI programming. These classes merely whet his appetite and set him on a pathway of a lifetime of learning.

Upon graduating, he continued to work as a live mixer for several bands, special events, and worship services. The experiences he gained as a live mixer have helped him develop deeper listening in his studio work.
Starting a small contracting business proved an important experience in helping him understand the process of running a business. While leading his crew he discovered the joys of teaching. Since that time he has mentored several young bands as they begin to write, perform, and record their songs. He has trained technicians for houses of worship and recommended professional audio equipment to 1000s as a sales engineer at one of the nation’s largest professional audio retailers. It can truly be said that one way he finds his bliss is exploring the sublime twists and turns of signal flow and complex audio routing.

Jim earned a BA in Music from Cedarville University and a Bible Diploma from Faith Baptist Bible College. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard Band for 26 years. Though she has had the chance to teach, direct, design, and act in various ministry, educational, and community productions, Kristin loves the ability of Scripture to speak directly to the point and deliver truth into our lives. Born and raised in rural Oklahoma, the son of a Baptist pastor, came to to faith at the age of 5, started piano lessons at 9 (and hated it), became the church pianist at 11, played college football, BA in Music/Jazz Studies, called to pastoral ministry at the ripe old age of 20, received an MA in Pastoral and Biblical Studies from Bethlehem College and Seminary, served as Worship Pastor for Bethlehem Baptist Church for several years with John Piper and Jason Meyer, Doctorate in Christian Worship in progress at Southern Seminary, joined the worship dept. at Cedarville this year. Married for 15 years with 2 boys fast becoming young men.

He attended Cedarville College in the early 1990’s as a music and multimedia technologies major and received his BS in Worship from The University of Mobile in Saraland, AL under the leadership of Roger Breland and Pete Sanchez. He attended and received certificates in Audio Engineering from The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH. Daren has toured internationally as a musician and audio engineer as well as served in churches as a worship pastor and media pastor. While being on church staff, Daren learned that churches needed a partner to assist them in better communicating the message that God has given to them. TSG came about as a result of this need for partnership.

Beth Cram Porter has earned a splendid reputation as soloist with orchestras and as recitalist. She toured Southern France with Maestro Robert Shaw, performing as soprano soloist in Bach’s B MINOR MASS and Brahms’ LIEBESLIEDER WALTZES. A graduate of Baylor University and Western Carolina University, Porter also recorded with Maestro Shaw on the Telarc label. Other solo credits include Handel’s MESSIAH and DIXIT DOMINUS, Haydn’s MASS IN TIME OF WAR, and THE CREATION, Bach’s MAGNIFICAT, Faure’s REQUIEM, Mozart’s CORONATION MASS, SOLEMN VESPERS, and GREAT MASS IN C MAJOR, Brahms' EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM and Beethoven’s C MAJOR MASS. She sang in the North American Premiere of Mendelssohn's opera DER ONKLE AUS BOSTON under the direction of Maestro Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival (OBF) and was the soprano soloist for the 2007 OBF production of KING DAVID by Honegger. In 2004, she was invited to be the featured soloist at the White House National Day of Prayer ceremony where she sang for President George W. Bush and 200 of his invited guests. On faculty at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio since 1997, Porter is currently Associate Professor of Voice and serves as Chair of the Department of Music and Worship.
